Overview

HawkerHub is a concept ordering and loyalty platform for Singapore F&B chains, cafés and food-court operators. Diners scan a QR code at the table, order and pay with PayNow or card, and collect loyalty points, while outlets manage menus, kitchen tickets and promotions from one merchant console.

The challenge

Singapore F&B operators face high rents and tight labour supply. Taking orders at the counter slows lunch peaks, third-party platforms charge heavy commissions, and owners rarely own their customer data. Multi-outlet brands also struggle to keep menus, prices and promotions consistent across locations.

Our solution

We designed a lightweight web-based ordering flow that needs no app download: scan, order and pay in under a minute. Orders flow straight to a kitchen display, and every paid order can earn points in a brand-owned loyalty program. Head office manages menus and promotions centrally, with outlet-level overrides for stock and opening hours.

Key features

  • QR table ordering and takeaway pre-ordering without an app download
  • PayNow QR, card and wallet payments with automatic reconciliation
  • Kitchen display system with ticket timing and ready notifications
  • Brand-owned loyalty: points, stamps, vouchers and birthday rewards
  • Central menu management with outlet-level availability
  • Peak-hour analytics, best sellers and basket size by outlet
  • Direct online ordering to reduce reliance on commission-based delivery apps

Built for the Singapore market

The concept is designed around PayNow, which Singapore diners widely use, and supports GST-inclusive pricing, English and Chinese menus, and dietary tags such as halal-certified outlets and vegetarian options.

Technology stack

Next.js progressive web app, React Native merchant app, Node.js and PostgreSQL, Redis for real-time order queues, Stripe or a local payment gateway with PayNow, hosted on AWS Singapore.

Design goals

  • Shorten lunch-peak queues by moving ordering to the table
  • Increase repeat visits through a brand-owned loyalty program
  • Keep customer data with the operator, not a marketplace
